A More Excellent Way
2 Corinthians 5:17, KJV: "Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new."
Raised
within the world around us, we learn how to respond to life much as
anyone else in the world does. But when we come to Christ, we are made
new. We begin
to grow away from our old ways, and grow to become more like Christ. As
we grow to be more like Him, we begin to respond to troubles, crisis,
pains, and problems in a manner that is as Christ would. We are no
longer to respond as those without Christ would respond, but we are to
find within God all that is needed to find a more excellent way--His
way. In Romans 12:2, Paul writes, "Do not conform any longer to the
pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind."
It is not an indictment to backslidden Christians, but a word of
encouragement to all Christians. The life that is in you now is true
life--Life from God. The greatest joy you will know is when you can
relinquish the old ways, in favor of the wondrous ways that emanate from
an incredible, new life in Jesus Christ.
